About Me
I started painting in San Francisco in 2012.
Before that, I earned my BFA in English Linguistics & Literature in Korea University focusing on modern drama and poems.
My favorite piece was the play 'Equus' by Peter Shaffer which depicts twisted outburst of adolescent vulnerability and discrepancy that has long been under control (by the parents or the society).
This was linked to my interest in human's hidden emotion and psychology ; and this eventually lead me to oil painting that may be the best medium to express that.
I have won the 1st prize in painting in Student Showcase by De Young Museum in San Francisco in 2014, and currently keep painting figure series in Orange County.

About my Art
I like to perceive and study things by touch.
I remember an object, even specific time or space, by its texture and how I feel primarily by my skin.
This is how I treat my art, too.
Because a human body is the history of a person, it has numerous growth rings and sediment on it.
And I want to capture them with many overlapped textures of rough oil paints.
It may not be a clear index like photos, but the result is the chunks of light and silhouettes, just like in our dreams.
